Study of mitochondrial dynamics in yeast cells

The objective of this project is quantification of mitochondrial dynamics (such as fission and fusion) in yeast cells, which are subjected to various stimuli created by diseases. Cytoskeletal structures such as microtubules are regulators of the abnormal behaviour of mitochondria in diseased cells. The novelty of the project lies in developing a model (2-D or 3-D) for predicting the mitochondrial lengths in such diseased states.
